Amp is 165wx2 4 ohms

I wanna connect it to my 165 w 12'' sub. I don't need that other channel.

Will my sub fry because all the power is going into one channel or are amps controlled to only deliver what they say theyre going to delive at that channel?

  1. you have to bridge the channels. negative from the speaker to the negative on channel 1.  positive from speaker to positve on channel 2  take a wire and connect channel 1 positve to channel 2 negative and adjust your gain sown

  2. The amp will only put out the rated wattage per channel. It's not really a good idea to run only one channel off of the amp. If you put an unbalanced load on the amp for too long, it could cause damage.

  3. I call bullcrap on caraudio.

"when running subwoofer's you need to use a monoblock subwoofer amplifier ,because they are made for that purpose .Two-channel amplifiers are made for high purpose audio speakers or multiple speakers per channel , but not for subwoofers unless the amplifier says mono mode capable."

My subs are on a 2-channel amp not bridged.

  4. bridge the channels!

  5. when running subwoofer's you need to use a monoblock subwoofer amplifier ,because they are made for that purpose .Two-channel amplifiers are made for high purpose audio speakers or multiple speakers per channel , but not for subwoofers unless the amplifier says mono mode capable.Because two-channel amplifiers have built-in high pass crossovers and relays not low pass. High pass means to filter out low frequencies and to pass over high frequencies.Low pass means to filter out high frequencies and to pass over low frequencies.

Your best bet is to just use a monoblock subwoofer amplifier or a mono mode capable 2-channel amplifier.
