If I use 2 really old (2005) stamps instead of 1 new 42 cent stamp, would that work?

Technically the postage of 2 of the old stamps ( not sure, I think 37 cents each) would be more than 1 of todays, so it should mail fine, right?

  1. Yes.  The amount of the stamps has to exceed the going postage rate.

You could use a stamp from the 1930's (for example) as long as the amount on the stamp exceeded the going rate.

  2. Yes, it will mail fine as long as the postage on the envelope is greater than or equal to today's postge.

  3. Yes. You could in fact buy 2 five-cent stamps and be able to mail TWO letters.

  4. If a 3 year old stamp is "really old" I am methuselah.

  5. perfect.

  6. As long as it equals the 42 cents or more it will go through.  You could use ones from 1920 if you wanted (although I wouldn't recommend that, you should save those).

  7. Yes as long as the total is equal to or greater than 42 cents.  They sell 1 cent stamps at the post office so you can use old stamps
