I can't afford a Blu-ray or high deffinition recorder but am wondering what would happen if I used a standard dvd recorder. Would I get HD or regular? And I would like true 1080. And my cable box records HD onto a hard drive. Can I record that to a regular dvd? And what would I get? My cable box recorder is filling up with episodes of Sunrise Earth and I don't want to delete them.

  1. it will only be viewable in HD if your dvd recorder has an hdmi output and you connect that to your tv.

  2. I am not sure on the exact answer to you question, because I do not know the specs of DVDs, but I can say that HD programming is not 1080p, it is 720p.  The only media that is/was 1080p is Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.
