If I use the wrong fuse on my oven, will it cause a fire?

2 of the fuses blew and I put 2 new ones in... but I got the wrong ones. So I have number 30 for the oven and number 20 for the burners.... but the other 2 burners have a number 30 too!!!! The 30's are only for the oven.

Will that cause a fire?

  1. Smaller fuses will blow faster.

The question really should be what caused the fuses to blow in the first place.

  2. the fuses are there to protect the insulation of the wire and the wires are sized to the fuse.... it may cause a fire, too much amperage could melt the insulation on the wire and cause a short-circuit. go get the right fuse.

  3. no, i think it wont work,.....not catch fire

  4. Possibly. The burner will burn hotter before the fuse blows if there is a problem. I would buy the correct fuse as soon as possible and not use the two burners with the wrong fuse. A fuse is basically a piece of wire that breaks when too much current passes thru the wire and it breaks. A bigger fuse usually has a bigger wire and takes more current to blow.
