If I volunteer in a nursing home, what will I do?

I'm 17 BTW. What will I be involved in? What do volunteers typically do in nursing homes?

-Sponge-bathing senior citizens

-Emptying bed pans

-Changing adult diapers

Actually, volunteers can't help with personal care, like bathing the residents.  Volunteers usually do more entertainment type things or may help with general cleaning or yard care.

If you volunteer, you might be asked to read to the residents, write letters for them, or just visit with them.  Or you might be asked to play games or sing or play an instrument if you know how.  Bingo is a great game for volunteers to help the residents play.  

My mom helped with a store they had at one nursing home.  They sold things that the residents could purchase as gifts for family members and they also sold things the residents made.
