hi hi there, I'm really interested in working close with animals, but I don't want to be in a clinic doing veterinary work, I want to be out in the wild most of the time. I wouldn't mind too much inside work, but as long as it doesn't consume most of my time. I'm interested in endangered mammals and their conservation, but really. not too much desk work =]

  1. I'm not sure what country you're from or what university application system you'll be going through, so you should probably see a careers adviser who can help you plan your personal educational path.

    If you'd like to work outdoors doing conservation, then you may be looking at a degree in Environmental Biology or Zoology, or even in Veterinary Science before you specialise. Good subjects to help you get a place on one of those courses would be a combination of Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Maths.

  2. You should consider taking some advanced courses in high school. This includes Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses if they are available in your school. If you do well in these courses, you may receive college credit for them. Advanced courses can also strengthen your college application.

    Helpful electives to take in high school that will help prepare you include:

        * Anatomy and Physiology

        * Computer Applications

    The courses listed above are meant to help you create your high school plan. If you have not already done so, talk to a school counselor or parent about the courses you are considering taking.
