If I want to be a physical therapist, should I major in Biology or Kinesiology?

  1. I recommend kinesiology. You would benefit from that the most, and it's applicable as a PT.


  2. I would vote kinesiology.  I was a biology major and it involved a LOT of stuff that's not really directly applicable to physical therapy-- plants, fruit flies, etc.  Look at the courses of study and required classes and see what looks more relevant.  Also, regardless of what major you choose, it might be a good idea to take some related elective courses as well.

  3. In Australia we have physiotherapy, that's treatment of soft tissue injuries via physical manipulation. Sports science too touches on it, and massage (though less professional).

  4. You can do either...what really matters is that you complete all the prerequisite courses. However, since kinesiology usually requires physics (which is one of the requirements), this might be a slightly better choice.
