The most useful website is definately http://www.realestate.com.au/

and second:

http://www.domain.com.au/

This is where the vast majority of people go to look for places, and where most places are listed.

There's also

http://www.justlisted.com.au/

But isn't as comprehensive as the other two.

If you're new to homebuying in NSW, you might check out:

Which has all the legal processes and such laid out.

If you're not from Sydney, (or even if you are!), you might consider getting a buyer's agent.  They'll basically find the perflect place for you and get a great price for it.  We used one for our house purchase (even though we live in Sydney, we didn't know the area where we were looking to move well), and it worked out perfectly:
