What's your budget? You can get a good beginners racquet for like $60

i used to go to a big five and get my gear. racket for 15 and some balls for about 2 bucks a can. 3 in each can.

go to a used sports store, they have really good raquets...but don't buy one online because it might have a too big of a grip or be too heavy!

It depends on what your actual budget is. You can start off pretty reasonably with an inexpensive racquet at Target or Costco. You'll also need a pair of tennis shoes. I'm not sure wherre you are but in most urban areas there are public courts you can play at for free. You'll just need to round up someone to play with.

If you have a little more to spend, take a group lesson. Many Parks and Recreation departments have inexpensive lessons for beginners. You'll also meet others in your situation and can find some people to hit  and practice with.

you can go to walmart their rackets are any where from $15- $40

you should get shoes at a better place though
