Question:

If I want to go to a good college so I can get into a good Med School, does attending charter school look bad?

I am a sophomore at a private catholic high school. I want to leave at the end of the first semester (around the end of December) and attend a charter school with individual study for the rest of the year until June, and after summer I would return to a different (regular/not charter) school for my junior and senior year.

Would this look bad on my college applications?

Would this give me less of a chance opposed to other people at private schools, or people who didn't attend charter?

  1. It depends on your grades and  the quality of your charter school.  Mostly though, it will depend on your SAT and ACT scores to get into a good college, and your grades at college to get into Med School.

Like Glurpy said, you will run into more trouble transferring from private to public like that then you will getting into college.

  2. It doesn't make a difference in terms of college, but could cause problems for you getting a diploma.

You could run into a snag switching schools like that. Not all public schools will recognize credits from private schools and if you are returning to the private school, they might not recognize the credit from your charter school. Not to mention that any full-year courses you may be taking could end up being totally scrapped because the charter school's courses could be different and the switch might not be possible.
