I'm wondering as to the options for minimizing phones and phone lines while having 3 separate phone numbers and VM greetings. I only have 1 line in my home + 1 cell phone. I don't want business calls coming into the home line. What are my options? Carry 3 cell phones with me? Thanks!

  1. Most homes nowadays are wired for 4 separate lines (a 4 pair cable). Your phone installer should be able to split the 4 lines and have 3 business lines and a home line.

If you are not setup that way, they would need to run another cable into your home to handle the additional lines. Using multi-line phones, you can have a different greeting for each line coming in.

Another thing to keep in mind would be any possible fax machines you may need.

  2. Try using kall8.  I use them and they are great.

  3. Go virtual via companies like www.RingCentral.com

  4. Talk to the business services department of your phone company. I'm not sure I fully understand the purpose of publishing three numbers rather than one number and then having a menu tree callers can access or cascading the calls to the next available line if the main line is busy.

We technically have three phone numbers but callers all dial the same one. There's probably a way to reverse that system and have three numbers funnel into one line.
