I would absolutely recommend a Yamaha.  I've played on many brands... Baldwin, Kawai, Kimball, Young Chang, etc.  Yamaha beats them all, hands down.  The only thing better would be a Steinway, but you wouldn't find one in that price range.  You should be able to find a Yamaha in that price range.
