To mature inside eggs, the mother chicken would sit on the eggs and chicks would form after several weeks. Eggs for grocery stores are usually harvested the night or day they are layed, and refrigerated. The egg never gets to a high enough temperature for the chick to form, leaving you with an egg white and yellow, permanently. For a egg you can raise, yes, visit a local farm. You will also need a lamp to keep on it at all times until the chick hatches. Also, DO NOT FORGET TO ROTATE THE EGG!!! Many birth defects can occur if you do not... I believe it's once a day or so. Otherwise, the chick will become physically attached to the egg!!

s*x- If you want to get a baby animal, you have to have interaction on some level between an adult male specimen and an adult female specimen of that kind of animal...

Egg Farms- If you've ever been to an egg farm, you'll find thousands upon thousands of little cages, and each cage has one isolated female chicken with a place for her to lay her eggs.

Grocery eggs are not fertile,meaning the hen that layed them didnt mate with a rooster.You will have to get some fertile eggs for hatching.Get your incubator and set it up before you get your eggs.It needs to be at a stable temperature and humidity before the eggs are put in.

To find good fertile eggs you shoild contact a local farmer or breeder.Eggs can be bought online from hatcheries or ebay but shipping cause a lower hatch rate.If there is a 4H in your area find out who they buy their eggs from for their classroom incubations.You can be pretty sure that they buy from a good sorce.Good Luck!
