If I wanted to bet on three horses in the Kentucky Derby this Saturday on one bet would this be a trifecta?

How could I bet on them so I would win no matter which of the horses would come in fist, second, or third? A trifecta boxed? How much would this cost to bet that way?

thanks.

  1. A $1 Trifecta box cost $6. A $2 Trifecta box cost $12. A $1 Superfecta box cost $12. A $2 Superfecta box cost $24.

Jeff is correct; you most likely will not win. There are twenty horses in this race, and most are evenly matched.

  2. I'm sure this answer will be construed as being smart ***, but it's the honest truth. If you don't know what a trifecta is, you have a better chance of pulling an egg sandwich out of a chickens ***, than cashing that trifecta you wagered on in the Derby. Sorry, just being honest with you.

  3. Yes, Trifecta Box, you would pay per combination, so a 3 horse box will cost 6 x whatever you bet, the minimum is $1 (so $6 total) but you will only get half of the payout, since they are based on $2 bets, so to get the full payout you would be looking at $12.

  4. if all you are going to box is three horses you dont stand much a chance of cashing a ticket, as Doug stated above if you dont know what a trifecta is, your chances of catching one are astronomical... hoyo is correct, the base price for a trifecta payoff is 2$ but you can box any exacta or trifecta for a dollar meaning a dollar trifecta box (any correct combination of the three horses in any order)or exacta box (any first/second combination of the three horses) will cost you 6$ and pay off half the listed payout... Ive caught two of the last 4 Derby trifectas (unfortunately not the one Giacomo keyed) and will probably spend a couple of thousand trying to catch a big ticket and have it a few times in the Derby this year like I do most years...have never caught a superfecta ticket in the Derby, grrr... youre probably better off trying to catch an exacta box, or playing win and place on one or two horses...
