Question:

If I wanted to call for a taxi...?

My friend invited me to his 18th birthday party which runs from 7pm 'till late. My parents won't be able to pick me up.

How much would it cost if I called for a taxi to stop outside his home and how much on average is it for around 3km?

Would they also charge me for the taxi to drive to his home?

This is for the Sydney metro area by the way.

  1. Approx

    Flag Fall  $3.10

    Distance Rate  $1.85 per kilometre

Taxi's don't charge to drive and pick you up - it's from the time you hope in the taxi is when the charges start.

If you book a taxi in advance there is also a $2.00 booking fee.

  2. You get charged from the moment you sit in the taxi until you arrive at the destination. There is also a flag-fall that is a price that is on the meter before you start the journey.

Beware of being taken the 'long way' there as that costs you extra money. Know the most direct route to your friend's place so you can direct the driver if you have to. They like to take the long way to make more money.
