If I wanted to move out of the country?

To Australia for a couple of years then come back to the states what would I have to go through?

  1. The official visas for more than 1 year are pretty tight.  It kind of depends on the type of job you want...unskilled labor like restaurant work you could pull off staying a bit longer.  Its really a fun place to be.  It reminds me of life in the 1960's in the US.

    Just go for it.


  2. Your best bet is to apply for a 12 month working holiday visa however, for Americans,  no extension is available beyond 12 months. You can work for the whole 12 months in any type of job but can only work for up to 6 months with any given employer.

    The only practical way for an unqualified young person to come for any longer is to come on a student visa. Many American students come each year to Australia for their university (college) education.

  3. to move to Australia you have to be a skilled worker in an occupation Australia needs

    or you could come as a student but you will have to pay all tuition and living expenses yourself

    or apply for a 12 month working holiday visa
