  1. I would go to hotels.com and find a hotel with a good rate.  I found one for about $120 a night last year.  Then add about $30/$40 a day for food.  I usually got baguettes for lunch to save money (about $7 including drink), which allowed spending a little more for dinner.  For breakfast I spent about $5 - a coffee and bakery item.  I walked everywhere, but the metro is pretty cheap.  Not sure what you plan to spend on souvenirs or other personal items, so don't don't know what to add in for that.    Add in your flight.  You can book your shuttle ride from the airport to your hotel online  http://www.airport-shuttle.com/.  The current fee is 27 Euros   (one way).  This is about $36. This site will tell you the current exchange rates for dollars to Euros - http://www.oanda.com/

If you want to take a chartered group day trip to a sightseeing place outside of Paris - add $50 to $75.  There are trips to Versailles, etc. and they include a meal.    You can find these online.  If you will be going to museums add $60 or so - you can get a 3 day pass to see several.  It will be less if you only plan to go to one or two.

  2. Paris is really a very reasonably priced city to visit no matter what anyone else tells you.

Stay at  the very centrally located Hotel Tiquetonne and your room will cost only 30 euros (about $40) a night.

Get most of your food from street stands and cafes and your meal costs will be another $40 a day.

Figure another $10-20 for metro tickets and musem entrance fees .

You should be able to do it on $100 a day.
