Like, how many unpassable things are there? You know, like dams, fallen bridges, etc.

  1. Assuming you got a boat big enough that you can not portage around stuff,   your start would be just south of the dam in Coon Rapids, MN.

If you look at the pictures of the bridge that fell in Minneapolis,  you will see a boat lock just next to the bridge.  If they got the channel open,   you would go through that lock,  past the bridge and continue south.   If the channel is not open,  you would have to start just south of the bridge.

After that you would be able to travel through locks all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.

  2. 2,348 MILES

The Mississippi River begins it's journey at Lake Itasca in Minnesota, ending 2,348 miles later in the Gulf of Mexico.

It is the second longest river in the U.S.A.

It drains more than 40% of the Continental United States, including 31 states and two Canadian provinces

    Make sure you have

    Proper lights,

A Life Vest for EACH person, A sound producing device(horn or whistle)

100 Feet of rope for any locks you go through

  3. if you have the time, it's a great trip.  there are a few locks, but no blockages.  the further south you go the bigger it gets.  it's almost a mile wide where i am.  tow traffic and huge floating logs are ever present dangers, so don't try it in a 14 footer or something.

  4. Boss, you can go all the way to the gulf, from there go around Florida and up to New York.   From there you can get to the Great Lakes and then back to the Mississippi.  There's a name for that trip, I can't remember it.

  5. you can make it all the way to the gulf of mexico there are no dams and i don't belive there is any fallen bridges
