If I waxed my car should I wash it?

I washed and waxed my car. My car keeps getting dusty, I usually just dust the out side with a moist cloth. Is it okay to just rinse the car? Or should I use soap and wash the car completely? If I washed it using soap will it wash off the wax? I usually wax my car about 7 times a year, any advise?

  1. get yourself a california car duster and use it when it's just a little dusty, they work real good.

  2. wax is a thin coat of various material that removes and protects a car from  oxidation. This protective material will protect your top coat of paint. Car soap is great but materials like Dawn or other house hold soaps will strip the wax off a car.

  3. First thing make sure that you are using a quality car wash concentrate and NOT something like dishwashing liquid. Next thing is that there is no need to wax your car 7 times a year. Most waxes recommend 2 times a year and the most I would do it is 4 times in a year.

Go grab some detailing spray. If you wash your car (let's say the day before) and you come out and find that it is dusty. Get a microfiber detailing cloth and spray the detailing spray onto the car and wipe with the microfiber cloth. Go section by section until you have completed the whole car.

That should give you a brilliant shine and a clean not dusty car. I would only do it this way (as I have many times before) if I were sure that there was just dust on the car. If the car had been driven and was dirty then make sure you give it a real wash!

  4. use car wash soap not dishwasher detergent the detergent will strip the wax off

  5. Wax is durable enough for one application a year. Any way you choose to clean the outside is fine. I use Mcguires quick detailer when its just dusty.

  6. never rinse your car off with a hose unless  ur going to use soap

    and go ahead and wash
