  1. I am a chip collector myself. I have never had a problem with any of the casinos I have been to. In some cases, the cage person would even look for the nicest chip they could find!

I have well over a hundred chips from all over the Southwest U.S. and I don't plan on stopping there. LOL.

You are correct when you say you bought the chip. As many people before me have said, the casino has your money, you have their chip. I think they would rather have your money.

Most of the casinos get their chips for way less than the dollar or so you pay for them.

  2. yes you can from many casinos

some are even collectors item..from casinos that are no longer around

such as the stardust... dunes..and many more

i have a few silver dollars around my place from casinos

  3. Casinos do not mind if you keep chips at all.

In fact many of them have specially minted souvenir or commemorative chips that they hope you will keep and not turn back in. This just increases their profit margin a bit more, since in effect you are "buying" the chip. Indian casinos are especially well known for this.

    Have fun!

  4. I'm not yet 21 (less than a year...), and can't gamble, but i think it works like this, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong:

Chips act as a placeholder for actually money, you redeem chips for money, so you keeping the chips is no skin off the casino's back, as long as they still have your money.

  5. It's okay.  I do all the time when I visited a casino that I know I may never get a chance to go again(casino in other state beside vegas).

I want to get one from every casino in vegas too, but I usually spend the money(chips), ha ha.

I've got one from the New Frontier though.  Now that the hotel is gone, may be it will be worth something in a few years.

The casino don't care if you take it.  I don't even think they know I took it.  I move from table to table, go back to the room, come back and play again, and so on.  So, unless they track my every move, and count my every pennies, they wouldn't know I took a chip from the place.

  6. The chips used at a casino are actually currancy. Yes you can keep the chip but know that from time to time Casinos change the design of the chip and old chips will no longer have value once the change is made.

There are actually several people that collect chips from casinos all over the world. The Highest value of these are the old Flamingo and Dunes chips.

Me personally, I would keep a matchbook instead :)

    Good luck!

  7. Ive been to a few casino's where they prefer to keep their chips, and some on the other hand, who couldnt care less.

Most of the time, a chip the them is just a way of stopping a guy of walking out of the casino with thousands of cash in hand, thus making them cash in first. So to them, its no skin of their nose. They got their money. You got their chip.

However, i know a few casino's dont like it as they see it as you trying to make copys of the real thing. Ie forge fake chips. Double check with each casino when you go, it varies place to place.

But in most places ive been, its not a problem. There are many chips collectors across the globe, but just double check to be sure.
