If I went to India and bought a gold necklace or something at a pond shop and resold it in Europe, could you?

Yes, for some reason, i came up with this idea of buying gold in a foreign market and reselling it in another, I was thinking, could a profit be made from doing this what are the barriers to doing this and can profit really be made?

wouldn't your travel costs  wipe out any potential profits? - buying from a Pawn (not Pond) shop - you would be paying retail price, not wholesale - only way to make money buying and selling gold is spending 1000's at a time and then it might take you months to resell everything in order to make any money

If you try to find a "pond" shop in the yellow pages to sell your necklace, you're probably not going to have very good luck.
