Yea, people probably will say yes, but if I take it, I will be a product of affirmative action, and my degree would not be taken seriously.

On the other hand, it gives me the opportunity to afford any school I want in the country.

If I DON'T take it, can I use that I denied the scholarship, would that give me points during a job interview? Would it be a good idea to do that?

  1. I don't think that by taking it your degree would not be taken seriously.  When you are looking for a career, you don't list what scholarships you got so you could go to college, you list the college you went to, and what awards and grades you got there. If the scholarship will help you go to the school you feel most successful at, then take it. Once you accept the scholarship, it's source is immaterial, it simply becomes a tool for you to reach your higher goals; it doesn't matter where it came from.  If you choose NOT to take the scholarship, I wouldn't ever mention it again.  Telling people that you denied it may make you seem high-handed and that you don't appreciate the opportunities that are given to you. It would most certainly NOT score you any points.

  2. You do realize that once you graduate, no one is going to know or care how you financed your education.  All that will matter is if you have the degree or not.  You may get "points" if you explain the reason why you didn't go to college, but you won't get the job..
