If I were to convert to Islam... hijab?

If I were to convert to Islam, would I have to wear a hijab?

My family live in Italy and France, they are Roman Catholics (very very religious family)

My family does not like Arabs or even Muslims in general. I know that not all Muslims are Arabs, but the ones in France usually are. My mom and dad may be okay if I were to convert but my mom would never tell my family ... I'm sure if I were to convert to Islam my family would disown me and would never want me to go back to Europe to see them. So would I have to wear a hijab if I were Muslim? because I am scared to wear on and especially because I live here in South Texas where racist and the prejudice are everywhere. So many Muslims don't wear them, is it wrong of them? I'm just so confused!

  4. Hi (Salam)

I am from a syrian father and a french canadian mother.  I lived all my live in quebec, canada.  Now, i live in west virginia, usa after i met my husband.

If you are afraid about texas, don't be.  I was afraid when i came to the usa 3 years ago.  But it's ok.  And i know that in texas, they have a muslim comunity that can help you if you need it.

About your family, i can't tell you because i didn't live that situation, but i have lots of friends that had to deal with a family like yours.  They are ok.  And happy.

The most important is to trust Allah and do your best.

But i think, that since your familly is used to different things (a L*****n, a black marriage...) they will forget your situation fast.. Don't worry, you'll be fine.

You can contact me if you'd like.. Just write me something and i'll send you my infos.

Oh, and about the hijab.  Muslims have to wear hijabs; i will not lie.  But i know some really good muslims who don't wear it.  And a lot of new muslims wait before wearing it until they have some confidence.

May Allah guide us all and helps you make good choices.

Bonne chance et ne t'en fait pas!!

you should listen to dr zakir in you tube if u have any doubts he knows all the quaran and bible and is a very wise muslim man

hope this helps... and dont be afraid allah will guide u ...:):)

  7. Well, if ya think about it, Roman Catholics also cover their head! You could wear the same head covering they do.

You don't HAVE to wear hijab - it doesn't make you a non Muslim if you don't. Trust me, the only unforgivable sin in Islam is shirk (ascribing partners with Allah (SWT)). Allah (SWT) is the best of judges.

If you fear for your life, you definately shouldn't wear hijab. Just because you don't veil, doesn't mean you're not a good Muslim.

  8. It  is a rule in the Quran that women have to where hijab...but under your circumstances...you don't have to wear one...You'll be forgiven

  9. you have to wear hijab.

However, just because it is difficult to wear hijab, you should not delay converting to Islam.

If you are convinced that Islam is true religion, convert to Islam in first opportunity. You have to pray to God to make things easy for you. None are perfect. Though covering hair is mandatory, but not abiding by this law does not throw you out of fold of Islam. So, trust God, pray to Him and go ahead. If you couldn't follow some rule of Islam, Allah very well knows the difficulty you face.

May Allah guide you and make things easy for you.

  10. well u dont have to. but when u pray then you do.

im half muslim and only wear a hijaab when i go to the mosque so dont worry.

islam is a peacful good relgion. no1 will forxe u to wear a hijaab or be like "u can wear pants"

i know girls that r islamic and are slets. kinda like me. lol

and if u r in canada the ahamddiya muslim communtiy is really supportive.

  11. Should you fear Allah God almighty  or your parents who you know are on wrong path?   This is much more important to think. Females  do not live with parents for ever. They get married and live with their husbands.  How often you will see your parents. It wouldn't violate your belief in Islam if you didn't wear scarf in front of  your parents bcoz you are not required to wear scarf in front of family members.

When you go out with them you can wear western long skirt with full sleeves and cover your hair with hat or some thing of western style.  Islam doesn't require what you can and what you canm't  wear. It only teaches you to cover your body in public in such a way that no one can see the curves of your body.
