If I were to equip 2 lead weights to my ankles and walk with them on for a while, could it make me run faster?

I know not to copy TV but in Prince of Tennis, they used the weights for an exorcise and it seemed to work.

what if I did it for a year or so?

  1. I don't think so. I would say running would make you run faster.

Weights are hard on your body and actually tend to slow people down.

They are especially bad on knees.

  2. NO

    Dont Do It

people may say its good but it actually screws up your knees and ankles

and it will make you slower

  3. No, they will hurt your knees and ankles, shin splints are almost inevitable. They will throw off the weight distribution on your legs so you will overstrengthen the wrong muscles and have disproportionate muscle strength (if they don't just mess you up), and you will, in best case scenario end up with a terrible running form and major pain in your knees and hips.

Theres a reason nobody else does it.. theres not a single olympiad who used weight training this way to get better.

  4. yeah, i think you would because if you ran with the weights for a long time, it would build up strength. then if you took them off to run, your body would have the strength, energy, and endurance to run, but you wouldn't be weighed(sp?) down. so you would be easily able to run faster than before.

btw, i luv prince of tennis!!! rock on!

  5. Yes if you run with the weights, I am currently running with weights, after I took them off, I started running faster with them. I usually walk to my school's track with weights on, and run there with my weights, then walk back home with weights, during the evening. When I walk to school and from school to my house, I usually walk faster than usualy, because I am used to the amount of weights I have on me, so now I feel lighter when I walk. If you did it for a year or so, runningwise, you will probably be really fast, and walking, probably walking really fast.

  6. Yes but for a short while and it back to normal. If you're still young it is Ok but not if you are above 50 as it can easily injured your muscles.

You can run faster by buliding up your stamina .Learn Gi Kong.

  7. No, the weights will not improve your speed, but they might injure you so that you can't run.

Lift weights, do plyometric exercises, run stadium bleachers, run.

    Do not wear weights.

It might seem logical that leg weights will make you stronger, but research shows it does not.
