Question:

If I were to let another person take my pony to pony club.......?

I was thinking of letting another person take my pony to pony club, maybe someone who cant afford to buy their own pony but would like to learn to ride. It would benefit my pony to have the experience as well. So in other words, everybody wins.

What would I need to do to save my butt if the child was injured or my pony was injured?

It would be a private agreement.

Has anyone else ever done this?

  1. I have done exactly this. I did some research beforehand and found out that if the rider is a member of the EFA then it provides insurance for the rider regardless where they are. As far as the horse - you have to do this yourself through a private company. I never bothered - just ensured that I gave a vaccination injection 2 weeks before leaving my property and worming, ect. was up to date.

If your horse is at a Pony Club event or day, then they are covered by their own insurance - you do not have to be concerned about this.

If it makes you feel more comfortable - and I did this as well, - you can type up an agreement that confirms the understanding by both parties of the responsibilities for you and the rider and a disclaimer in case of accident - although it can be disputed in court if it comes to that - not likely, though.

Anybody who is using a horse that is a suitable P.C mount and is using Pony Club grounds and teachers are going to be in the best of situations and in the right attitude to use another person's horse.

Relax and go for it!! It worked for me.

  2. i wouldn't risk it what if the person got hurt or hurt the pony wrecked it or spooked and scared it i wouldn't risk it!

  3. take out third party insurance and ask the other person to sign a contract outlining that if the pony was to get injured whilst in their care they would be held responsible and expected to pay any vet bills!

    :D xx xx
