If I were to take film studies, history of cinema, or film making class in college, would I need a camcorder?

I really want one and that may be just the escuse to get one....

if I do, does it have to be really goot or can it be a cheaper one?

i think you will only need a camcorder for film-making courses.  film studies and history of cinema ten to center around videos watched in class and textbooks; in those course i don't imagine you'll be expected to create anything.

for film-making however- you may check to see if you can rent a camcorder from the school.  this may be the most affordable option for you.

The school may provide you with a certain amount of equipment that you can use but if you want to have access to it all the time you probably want to buy one yourself.
