I am planning to work in Vietnam and wanted to know how can I send money from Vietnam to USA, the money I earn living in Vietnam. What are the laws and do I loose lots of money in transaction? Is there a way that I can ask company to put money directly in my bank account? Answer only if you know something solid on this matter, not just to get points please.

  1. u can contact to Western union for your questions . They will tell you in details .

  2. Bank. You can ask for the information at the HSBC bank. I think the fee for each transaction is 3%.  Hope it helps.

  3. If you are being hired outside of VN by an international organization/company, they should be able to arrange to make your payments directly to your US bank.

A lot depends on what the arrangements are that your organization has concerning tax exemptions. You may be subject to local income taxes - and if so, the organization will take the money out of your salary, before you get it and make the necessary payments (they are liable for unpaid taxes). The GVN is getting very serious about collecting income taxes, from foreigners as well as locals, so you want to make sure you understand all of the details before you start.

I lived and worked in Viet Nam for 4 years. I was paid directly to my US bank account, and I withdrew spending money from bank machines (Citibank and ANZ in Ha Noi). I had no problems with the tax authorities, I was exempt from taxes (or at least the authorities did not challenge my exemption before I left recently). Locally hired consultants, expat or Vietnamese all paid taxes and my organization took the tax money out of the payments, before paying. As I recall, we could arrange making payments to foreign accounts, but there are rules and regulations to be followed.

  4. Bank, Western Union ... Many ways, just like the other countries. You can even use the Master Card / Visa Card and it can be withdrawn in any country in the world, too.

  5. If you are a Vietnamese national, check http://www.westernunion.com/info/osMoney...  there is a list of restrictions about sending money out of Viet Nam. If your situation qualifies, you can go out to only select Asia Commercial Bank and VP Bank and Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) locations to send money.

If you are not a Vietnamese national, you can go to Western Union locations in VN or the above banks to ask because your situation is different.

    Hope that helps.

  6. bank....but make sure tat the bank in US accept bank from VN....since VN is a communist country....
