  1. The good part is that you have a job. The bad part is that its at the post office. If you like stamps, lines of grumpy self important business people and doddery old pensioners, you will love it. If for any reason you still have the will to live however, it may not be the ideal position for you.

    Good luck. :)

  2. crazy people, and you just might become one

  3. Ok, it's not that easy to get a job with the postal service. I took the test, and got a 87.1 and it still took them 2 whole years to call me, no lie. I guess the best part is definitely the money.  Istarted at 17 dollars per hr,but then again, i live in New York, starting pay is different depending on where you live. The hours are long. If you are not a Carrier or Window Clerk, you will never know (until you are a regular employee) what your hours are going to be, bad if you have kids or other responsibilities. You start off as the lady said above, as a Part Time Flexible, there is no telling how many hours you are going to work, they can send you home after 4 hrs or keep you 12 hrs. It can take a long time foryou to make regular(meaning, regular hours and days off)I have been working 6 yrs and still I am a Part Time Flexible , I work 6 days , 12 hrs per day. There are different positions, alot of outsiders who don't work for the postal service don't know that. I am a Window Clerk. I have to deal with the stupidest customers who ask questions like "How much is it for a 41c stamp? Idiots. If you do get in, go for Mail processing

  4. unless it is a mail carrier postion, there is the "split shift" (4 hours in the early morning, 3 hours off, then come back for 4-5-6 hours more), plus changing your schedule on a daily basis. these are what PTFs live with and that's what you are starting out.

  5. I hear you get good pay and benefits working at the post office, that would be a plus to it...on the other hand they always seem to be so darn slow and you might have to deal with a lot of fussy angry people on a daily basis. All in all it doesn't seem like a fast paced job or too much stress, if that is your idea of the type of job you want give it a shot.
