I've been told that Islam is not compatible with secular democracy. That being the case, ought Muslims to live in Islamic theocracies rather than in the secular democracies of the West?

  1. well yes, because as a result from the democracies of the West, religions are being insulted by the name of the freedom of expression and press, and this democracy supports that, and the Islamic theocracies at least it never mistreated the West.

  2. Islam can be compatible with secular democracy. For example Turkey has has been democratic since the 20s.

  3. No such thing as Islamic theocracies..... Even countries that are considered 'Islamic' like Iran, Pakistan are not in reality,  Hmm... Afganistan maybe? Well, that was more Talibanic than Islamic..... People got robbed of all their rights there!Quran was never meant to sent down guidelines for running a country politically!

A lot of the Sharia is not derived from Quran....... Islam was not meant as a way to rule the state, it were rules to lead a rightous life.

Muslims should wake up and start smelling the coffee and should stop complaining about the wicked West.... they most of the time enjoy to live here and enjoy the benefits and religious freedom they enjoy here.

I'm a Muslim myself, a convert, but sometimes the hypocrisy of some of my esteemed brothers and sisters make me sick and tired!

and @ Sarah: the Ahmadiyya do have a Khalifat

Edit: appealing does work!! Got this answer restored YAY!

  4. I agree 100%with Sara(not stupid one e.gEx)

    @Sara(not stupid one e.gEx)

1-who are you ?what is your last id

2-plz 4 God sake change your id ,I love it but when i talk with ppl i often get confused between you and the stupidest woman in the world.

  5. A literal interpretation of Islam based on the Qu’ran, or for that matter a literal reading of the Bible, would make adherence to Islam, Christianity, or Judaism at odds with secular democracy. So Muslims who are literalists, along with other theistic literalists, should, if they have the courage of their convictions, live in theocracies.

  6. Islam describes Islamic way of democracy, where the sovereignty remains for the sake of Allah swt. and none of the law contradicts with Islamic law in a state.

Present secular democracy justifies any evil act of majority of people agree on it, but Islam fixes certain basic principles as fixed rules by Allah swt. never be changed even 99% of people are in the favour to change.

In British democracy, if 51% parlimentarians agree that men must wear ladies dress, it will become a law, unlike Islamic democracy.

  7. People are simply hypocritical..They say everything is perfect in Islam, but all of them take off to US and UK and live a lavish life enjoying all freedom and facilities there..

More hypocritical are those people who stay in west and say "We should not join hands with kaffirs" uh????

  8. Muslims can live under any system and can follow any system which are not enemy of Islam.

If secular and democracy are Anti religion then it is duty of every Muslim to show Truth to that system and try their best to change system.

If system is not against to religion then they can live there as a minority and they must follow all laws.

Can two systems live in same place? Islam is not only religion but it is also a system like capitalism and communism. So Islam is not compatible with other system but it is different unique system because it is God-made system and other system are men-made systems. Does God prefect or humans?

All good aspects of secular democracy are already present in Islamic system which served the humans about 1000 years.

  9. Contrary to what others think or say, it is virtually impossible for MUSLIMS to live within an Islamic theocracy without conflicts arising. This is mainly due to the existence of hundreds of sects who all profess to being Muslim, nevertheless are not fully accepted into the fold of Islam.

A theocracy would require a caliphate, which unfortunately will create too many political struggles as there would be too many conflicting ideologies to cater for.

  10. Well, someone said Islam isnot compatible with secularism and I am telling you that it is.

Everybody has his/her own point of view and you are generalizing one side's standing unto the whole Islamic world.

If you ask Vatican, they will say Christianity isn't compatible with secularism and that the whole Christian world should be ruled by Vatican. The point is to ask them or not. See what I mean?

If in doubt, read the history of the Middle Ages and then of Reform and Rennaisance.

  11. Yes.

Muslims should live in an Islamic State.

However due mainly to many countries in the West this no longer exists.

If America and her allies stopped propping up these corrupt regimes in the Muslim world then we could re-establish a state that lives by the law of Allah (swt) and all return there,

The Secular democracies of the West are the ones that are occupying and supporting the oppressive governments in the Muslim world.

  12. Indeed they should.

If they cannot abide a democracy, then they're free to move elsewhere where there is not.

If I do not care for the country that I'm in, I'm free to move to a country that I do care for.  After all, there are so many folks here in this democratic country who LIKE democracy.

Why should I override their wishes just to make me happy?

  13. The earth belongs to Allah subhana wata'ala and I can live anywhere I want.
