If Jesus is God then why is he dead?

Like if he performed miracles how could he die? Why didn't he simple wave his miracle hand and save the world. Was he mentally retarded? Or was he just stupid?

He died, because it was necessary. He was the only perfect mortal to walk on the face of the earth. Because of this, he was the only one that could take up the sins of the world and break the bonds of death.

He had to die, so that we would all be resurrected. He was resurrected. He was the first person to be resurrected to immortality, and He was exalted. He still lives. He is the Son of God, and will reign on the earth in the millenium. He will judge us according to our desires and our works.
