Keegan got fed up because the board would not fund the players he wanted to bring in.  The Board want a successful club for no money, so Keegan said he couldn't work without a free hand to buy players.  The board told him he would have to work within their restrictions.  Keegan said he couldn't work like that and walked out BUT he didn't say "I resign".. If he had, he would have voluntarily ended his contract and would get no money, so he's waiting for the club to sack him  The club didn't say "you're fired" because, if they had, they would have to pay him compensation, which they can't afford.  So, it's an impass, Keegan doesn't want to work for the board and the board don't want to sack him.

I think what the problem is that keegan isnt unhappy with the fact that newcastle didnt buy and big signing's again.The only big signing they have had since alan shearer is michael owen and keegan wants the best for the club.I think he threatened to walk unless the board starts getting serious about newcastle's future instead of always wanting second best.This is what i think,unless they come to a deal he will walk,i dont think he wants to be at newcastle unless the board start putting the money up for big players instead of buying a handfull of unknown's.Keegan wants to be like alex ferguson for newcastle

Kevin Keegan couldn't get the transfer targets that he wanted,and Newcastle bought Xisco and Ignacio Gonzalez without Keegan's knowledge.Hence Keegan feels that he's been stabbed in the back by Dennis Wise and Mike Ashley.
