If Kobe jumps to Europe in 2011?

Will many other NBA stars follow the money, too?

High school stars could go play in Europe instead of wasting a year in college, and earn more than the NBA rookie salary max.

No salary caps for the stars. How much could folks like Dwayne, Bron, Kobe, and Melo make over there?

Would such a move by NBA stars signal the demise of the NBA?

Would David Stern be forced to change his policies (e.g., allowing people to play straight out of high school?)

  1. That would be awesome!  No more idolizing a ballhog here in the US anymore!

  2. If kobe did end up going it would most likely only be for a season. He loves the spotlight to much to stay away for long. He'd make 50 mil then come back next season.

  3. i dont see that happening.  the amount of money the euro teams would have to spend would make no financial sense.  they would lose a lot of money.  what those teams might do, as the reporters say, is give the stars big money for couple years just to get bragging rights.

at the same time, if a lot of stars make that big money and goto euro leagues for a year or 2, then it would mean those other teams except 1 or 2 will lose a lot of money, while not getting the wins.

  4. They wont lose money, but they wont make alot either. If Kobe or other superstars went into euro leagues more people would go watch them and they would have sellout arenas. The owners of some teams are multi billionaires so i dont think it would be a problem.

  5. it won't happen

  6. Why would European team sign High School stars? They are not desperate, they would sign great college talent and NBA stars but not high school. They have enough talent in Europe.
