It seems there is only a small group of us who like Machida. I think his style is one that MMA fans should appreciate, but many do not like it. This may be a factor in keeping him from ever going for the belt. I feel let records determine the challengers, not the whim of fans who still don't even like to see a ground match.

  1. ya i think he should be in line for a title shot. i don't see anyone else who should directly be next for a shot. unless they give chuck the title shot if he beats evans cuz hes the freaking poster boy of the company.

  2. 205 is really a way stacked division with lots of good choices including Wanderlei Silva, the winner of the Liddell vs. Evans fight, Rampage, and many more. Griffin might make sense, but I wouldn't rule out any of the other fights either.

I think you might be surprised on how much popularity Machida has if you look at the gaming odds.

  3. Don't want to be picky or anything, but he's fighting Thiago Silva, Alves is a welterweight. But yes for sure he will either get a title shot or a real number mone contender shot at the likes of Wanderlei or Rashad/Lidell, whoever wins.

  4. I love Machida, it's nice to see a real practicioner of martial arts. And he's not insane and aggresive. He has more of a karate style, its very strong and is unreadable to the MMA fighters. I think he is going to win the fight and definatley think he deserves a title shot if he wins. Or at least a fight against a higher class fighter. He isin't an exciting fighter but against someone like lidell, he would be forced to show agression. I'd love to see him and anderson silva go at it, maybe one day.

  5. Absolutely.  Machida is the real deal and he has solid talent.

Tiago is not going to beat him easily, if at all.  I like Machida style, he fights smart with technique and is very good.

I am huge Tito Ortiz fan, and I still enjoyed watching him win.  I agree with you and wish more felt like you do.

  6. Yes.  He is the number one contender already in most people's opinion.

  7. If Rashad Evans beats Chuck Liddell, then both Machida and Evans are undefeated.

I think the UFC would still like to give Jackson a shot at a rematch with Griffin before anyone else fights Griffin.

  8. although he is not very marketable to the majority of ufc fans i find it nearly impossible for the ufc to pass him up for title contention if he wins.
