Like saying that theres already left field, center, right, 3B, SS, 2B, 1B, Pitcher and Catcher and MLB decided to have 10 players now and you were the manager and given the choice of where to place the 10th fielder. Which location on the field defensively would you place him?

Personally i would select the spot right behind the 2B and 1B, still close enough to throw out the runner if the ball passes the "infielders"

  1. Outfield.

  2. Outfield like slow pitch softball

  3. somewhere in the outfield

  4. second base itself

  5. Gotta put him in the outfield to take away extra base hits.

  6. I'd have the first and third basemen stand right on the line behind the bases, and i'd move the 2nd baseman and shortstop right in the center between 1st and 3nd and 2nd and 3rd, and then i'd put the 10th guy right on 2nd base

  7. 4th outfielder. Or two pitchers, the batter wouldnt know who the ball was going to come from till the last second.

  8. I'm a Red fan so I would put someone in the bleachers , where most of the balls hit in GABP. end up.

  9. I would place the fielder in shallow outfield in between the ss and the 2b so the fielder could run the shallow outfield area and get the hits that go right up the middle.

  10. Id move the shortstop over a bit closer to third 2nd base a bit closer to 1st. Same thing with the corner infielders a bit closer to their base. The center field back. And put The guy with the stonger most accurate arm right behind second about 10feet into the out field.

Or depending on the batter have one of the SS 2B and EXtra fielder  have them shift. Like for a lefty pull hitter. Leave SS the same leave 2nd the same and put the extra right where between 2nd and 1st but a but deeper. Then for a right pull hitter you move the the extra fielder behind shortstop. And use the first example if their know for going up the middle.

EDIT) i would use the guy with the strongest arm for all these sugestions and still mvoe them closes enough to throw out all the runners to first.

I just had a thought to have the guy play right between 2nd and 1st in the infield. So its like on the right side. 1st Extra 2nd basemen. Then if theirs a bunt the extra can cover easily.

Also if you have to prevent the runner from scoring from third. Have everyone move in a bit closers than the usual prevention and have the extra play behind those guys a bit.so they can still get the out at 1st if the other guys miss the play.

  11. I think Baseball's already fine with 9 players.

  12. i would have him stand beside the batter and yell things in his ear as the pitcher is throwing the ball...or, id have him stand beside the pitching mound and have hime and the pitcher both mimick a windup and the one with the ball will actually throw it...you know, confuse the batter.

But why would you want to do this...

9 is baseball, 10 is (some forms) softball, it should stay that way
