If Manny was such a bad fielder, then why didn't they put him on DH?

David Ortiz could have played 1st and Elsburry could have been an everyday outfielder, why didn't the Red Sox did that in the 1st place?

w w, i remember that game. It was against the orioles in i believe 2005 and the guy that hit it came in on a inside the park HR. I consider that as one of manolo's funniest moments.

Because Ortiz is a worse fielder, AND they would have had to bench Youkilis or Lowell.

Manny is a decent fielder when he pays attention and hustles. He just doesn't do either of those things every day, except maybe when he's at the plate.

Because you can't bench a great player like Youklis and Ortiz can't play defense to save his life. And with such a short left field all manny had to do was play "fair" defense and play the ball good off the wall which he did.

NESN played a tribute of Manny highlights lastnight. It included some great grabs in the outfield. Manny plays the Green Monster as well as any left-feilder has through the years. my favorite was him diving in, to cut off a sissy throw made by Johnny "I've got no arm" Damon.

BTW, Ortiz is a worse first-baseman, than Manny is a left-fielder.

Manny's a decent fielder when he wants to be one.  Even his own teammates grew tired of his act and he had to go.  Addition by subtraction.
