If McCain is such a Maverick then why didn't he pick Lieberman like he wanted to?

Instead, since they didn't let him pick Lieberman, he decided to pander to women and the extreme right. After only meeting with Palin once and interviewing her for only 3 hours... does that sound like a man who puts country first?

It's obvious that Senator McCain isn't calling the shots of the McCain campaign.  McCain campaign adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin said: McCain may not speak for the McCain campaign.

Because he learned from his lesson in 2000. The nail that sticks out gets hammered down. He's playing the game to win, not for principle. He has to please the people behind the scenes.

Because McCain is smart and knew that he would not energize the base with Lieberman. While Lieberman is a nice Democrat, he is not a conservative Republican. Palin is.
