and you must be born in an American state to be president, does that mean his bid for the presidency is illegal?

  1. Military base is US property. He was born on US land. Its the same as being born in Hawaii or Canada your still an American. Or do the children of our soldiers not have the right to be American?


  2. If you read the Constitution, you'll see that you must be born on American property by American citizens.  McCain was born on a Naval Base by an American born man and an American born woman.  Read up on your Constitution before asking ignorant questions.

  3. You left out the part about him being born on a US Military base. That kind of deflates your question but the answer is no.

  4. he was born on united states property.  if i were to go give birth in france at the united states embassy, my child would be a US citizen because the land technically belongs to the United States.  McCain was born on an United States naval fleet.

The Constitution says that to be President you must be 35 and a natural born US Citizen.  His father was stationed overseas when he was born.  If you disqualified children of servicemen from being considered natural born citizens, then you would not only cause people to think twice about accepting assignments over seas, it would be hypocritical.

    On the other hand, when your mother marries a Kenyan and, in a second marriage, moves to Indonesia and renounces her citizenship, does that cause the minor child to lose his citizenship when he accompanies her to Indonesia?  

  6. You must be born an American citizen in order to be President.  There is no requirement to be born in the United States.  McCain is an American citizen by virtue of his parents' US citizenship.
