  1. Dokes did beat Weaver in their rematch.  The fight was stopped in the first round after Dokes landed a combination.  Weaver was more surprised than hurt but the referee, as if acting on a pre-read script, jumped in and stopped the fight.  It really STUNK.

In their first fight Dokes outpointed Weaver during the first half of the fight but ran out of gas down the stretch, allowing Weaver to catch up and receive a draw, which many felt he won.

Im a big fan so I hate to think of fix but SOMETHING just didnt smell right in that second fight.   But, then,  almost everything about Dokes was odd, from his poor attempt to use words with more than 4 letters, during post-fight interviews, to his ''Lovely'' relationship with Don King's crooked "know nothing about boxing" step-son.  (My God, Dokes was worse than Zab Judah during interviews---if that is even possible)

He would have lasted as long as he ended up lasting anyway.  He met with the right hand and superior conditioning of Gerrie Coetzee.  I actually felt bad for him when he was nearly be-headed by the sweeping left hook of Donavan "Razor" Ruddock.  I thought Ruddock killed him.

  2. he would probably have still lost to coetzee in his next fight.

if, on the other hand, you meant what if weaver  had won, then he probably wouldn't have lasted much longer.
