If Micheal Vick were white would he still be in jail?

I agree what he did was wrong. I also agree that he should be punished. I do not believe he will engage in this activity again. I do not believe keeping him in jail does good for anyone. He is not a threat to society. Football does not need him but I think he is a model for some kids at least in his community.

There are still State charges pending his release from Federal prison. I think enough is enough. It just rings truth that if a white person does a crime they are smacked on the wrist. If you are black the judge will not only throw the book at you but the entire judicial system.

Are you kidding me? Ever heard of O.J. Simpson. or wait wasn't Puff P.Diddy. Puffy (or whatever retarded name he wants to call himself) taken to court on assualt and weapons charges and nothing happened to him? Its not a white and black thing its about who has the most money and what the crime was.(with the exception of OJ). Vick is in jail because he was dog fighting, most people couldn't even imagine hurting a dog let alone breeding them to fight. If he did something simple like rape a girl(kobe) then he wouldn't be in jail right now.

And don't feel bad for Vick. On ESPN they were talking about how he has a multi-million dollar deal that was offered to him after he was sentenced, so he will be just fine when he comes out from his vacation. Just better hope he doesn't drop the soap or he might have a new reason to run fast.

Vick went to prison for gambling not dog killing.

Why does it always come down to race? I work in a prison and your beliefs are so far off it is funny. Black people don't get hard sentencing than white, hispanic or anyone else. If so then why is OJ still free?

Assuming the only factor in what happened to change was the color of his skin, then yes he'd be in jail still.

  He was running an illegal gambling ring in multiple states, was caught and lied about it. The other defendants turned over on him and told the truth. He smoked pot while on trial, continued to lie until he had no other choice, to the point that he failed a polygraph test. He did everything he could to make himself look guilty and p**s off the judge.

   If he had been smart, come clean, and stayed off the drugs for a few months, he would have gotten the smallest sentence possible. He didn't though. He also pissed off one of the most vocal groups in America, PETA, who amped up the public rage. He showed no remorse for what he did, until he was sure he was going to jail. He then apologized to get his sentence reduced.

    His father told him in 01 to stop the dog fighting, and he didn't listen.

   He didn't make a "mistake", he chose a path that was wrong, that he knew was wrong, and refused to change it. The judge felt that in light of all of that, he had to give Vick punishment for the gambling (conspiracy) which is all he's been sentenced for so far.

   He still needs to face charges for animal cruelty, which could give him 10 potential years in state prison.

vick would have caught a smack on the wrist as well, but he got in trouble at the wrong time.  right after pac man, tank johnson, darrent williams murder, and others before him, i.e. rae carruth, ray lewis, and on and on...  he was the nfls poster boy for a minute, he was the cover athlete for madden 2004.  he was such a big name and high profile player, an example had to be made of him.  also, he was lying for a minute.  they kept offering him deals, left and right, but he still chose to lie.  no excuse for that.  if he would have came clean immediately he would have got a smack on the wrist, regardless of his race, but he continued to act like he was above everything and had no clue this was happening.

If Michael Vick wasn't famous would you be asking this question?  There are thousands of guys in jail serving the same time as Vick for the same crime, just cause the guy can run fast and throw a football he shouldn't be given a slap on the wrist for breaking the law.  Race doesn't come into play here, sorry but it's hard to make a case for it with Vick.  He's in jail cause he broke the law.  Get over it and move on.
