Microsoft is the most frequent prosecutor of copywrite infringement, that is valid except that they do not want people to buy new computers and have the capability to use Microsoft programs that the purchaser already owns.

They tell you the new versions are enhanced but if you thoroughly navigate the new version you will find that while interfaces have been given a new look with a few bells and whistles, the only "real" changes are inner programs.

They interfere with your using older Microsoft programs (you already own). Interfere or stop you from using programs or equipment that are not Microsoft products. Interfere or stop you from using products/equipment that do not have recipricol agreements with Microsoft, and add detection programs designed to advise you when something is detected that Microsoft doesn't like or wants to prohibit.

They will not allow Yahoo to remain as we know it!

  1. And what are the bells and whistles Yahoo presents?  I am still trying to figure out the business website section where they are suppose to provide support to those websites:  drive traffic.  So where is the support?  Its all about charges, not support.

  2. My experience has been that Microsoft tries to provide the best possible product with the best value for most people. Often times, Microsoft has created enemies by taking over product categories... Examples:

    Operating Systems (IBM OS/2)

    Word processing (Word Perfect)

    Spreadsheets (Lotus 1-2-3)

    Databases (Oracle)

Microsoft tries to carefully avoid competing with allies in the industry, but it has also created powerful enemies. Quite honestly, the people that I know at Microsoft are sincere about producing the best product in the industry.

From personal experience, I know that Microsoft acquires companies intelligently. I was also part of an acquisition by Microsoft. When my company was "acquired", people in the core competencies (including executive, software development, support, and others)  were retained. The personnel in HR, accounting, and administration were required to interview and be accepted into a new organization. It was a generous and soft acquisition for everyone and it was based upon objective criteria.

If you are an employee at Yahoo, I'd be thrilled to have a chance to work at Microsoft and regain some momentum as a company. Microsoft wants Yahoo to be even more successful and is willing to make a huge investment.

Note: I cannot speak for the company and have no association with Microsoft other than stock ownership.

  3. I'll continue to use YA because it's a very good forum. Microsoft makes the best software in the world and is a tough competitor.

I'm sure they will help Yahoo become the best in the industry.

  4. The federal courts don't take companies like microsoft on unless they are doing something truly illegal and they continue to do so! Their operating systems exclude other applications whenever they would prefer you to use their version! They don't know what open means!
