Cus D'mato's death had more to do with it.  Cus really played a HUGE role in Tyson's life.  Without Cus he was unstable mentally.  The night he was upset by Buster Douglas he had no legit corner and they at one point put a bag of water on his head instead of actual ice.  People reallllllly don't respect Mike enough.  Cus' death threw his life into a spiral and Don King is who jumped on that opportunity helping tremendously in Mike's downfall.

His mental condition would have lead to a collapse whether he went to prison at that time in his life or not.

It was only a matter of time before he self destructed.

mike tyson was one of the best heavyweights ever, i think the guy got screwed by don king so much that his collapse would of been inevitable, and for the bloke sayin lewis was better, not a chance, lewis came about after mike was the beast he was, lewis will be found out that he was a fraud, he ducked everyone untill they were past there best, who did tyson avoid?? no one, so id say tyson couldnt of got any better, he done all that he could and had a good few years spendin the money he earned

No, he will be the same, because after Cus D' Amato' s death there's no one he respects. Only Cus gave him the chance to become a world champion. If only the old man live long enough to guide him, Mike Tyson will be the greatest boxer of all time.

yeah, he woulda been better, but how much better....guys like lewis and holyfield woulda still probably beat him, and he'd had have to fight riddick bowe at some point as well.  tyson was already exposed by douglas before he went to the joint.  he just had that bully syndrome, where when someone actually stood up to him, he panicked....even franz botha looked like he might pull the upset till he got drilled with that right......all that said, tyson's still in my top 4 or 5 favorite fighters i ever seen live
