  6. If they both died at the same time then Nancy Pelosi would become President. She would then appoint a new Vice President, who would have to be confirmed by Congress. If, however, President Bush died, Vice President Cheney would succeed him, and appoint a new Vice President, who would be confirmed by Congress. That person would succeed Cheney when he died.
