  1. because God ask us to do so.

الاحزاب (آية:56): ان الله وملائكته يصلون على النبي يا ايها الذين امنوا صلوا عليه وسلموا تسليما

"Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect. "

  2. We pray to allah, and the prophet and his family.

  3.   Why not pray for our beloved Prophet, sallalahia alhi wa salaam?

Muhammad sallalahi alahi wa salaam has done SOOOOO much by the leave of Allah subhana wata'ala for Islam and the Islamic community.

  4. To show our love to him besides the Salawah :)

  5. [2:136] Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and all the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters."

[2:285] The messenger has believed in what was sent down to him from his Lord, and so did the believers. They believe in GOD, His angels, His scripture, and His messengers: "We make no distinction among any of His messengers." They say, "We hear, and we obey. Forgive us, our Lord. To You is the ultimate destiny."

[3:84] Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and in what was given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters."

    [4:150] Those who disbelieve in GOD and His messengers, and seek to make distinction among GOD and His messengers, and say, "We believe in some and reject some," and wish to follow a path in between;

[4:151] these are the real disbelievers. We have prepared for the disbelievers a shameful retribution.

[4:152] As for those who believe in GOD and His messengers, and make no distinction among them, He will grant them their recompense. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

God wants us to have full respect to His prophets and messengers. Many of God's prophets and messengers are mentioned in the Quran, the book described by God as the absolute truth. Quran describes prophet Muhammed to us and asks the believers to  respect him. The description of prophet Muhammed in the Quran is in marked contrast to the distorted and insulting picture of him in the books of Hadiths and Sunna.

Let us find out what the Quran says about the prophet Muhammed and compare it with what the Hadith books say.

"NuN, the pen and what they write. You (Muhammed) have attained a great blessing from your Lord; you are not crazy. You have attained a recompense that is well deserved. You are blessed with a great moral character. (Quran 68:1-4)

What a beautiful description from the Lord of the universe. About being a compassionate human being God describes his prophet in the Quran in chapter 3

"It was mercy from God that you became compassionate towards them. Had you been harsh and mean-hearted, they would have abandoned you. Therefore, you shall pardon them, ask forgiveness for them, and consult them. Once you make a decision, carry out your plan, and trust in God. God loves those who trust in Him." (Quran, 3:159)

  6. because we love him

  7. Be love our messenger as we owe his guiding us to the correct bath by his words and action. He is forgiven and pure 4m all sins and even though he kept praying 4 Allah & asking forgiveness. On the judgement day he pray Allah 2 forgive us. It our duty 2 pay him back by praying on him and keep remombering him.

  8. We send darud on Mohammad (saw) to raise our own Rank . Who ever sends Darud on him gets reward ,Mohammad Is Already On The highest rank of All

  9. bcoz we love him

  10. Those who love Allah follow His Messenger (sa).  When we pray for Muhammad (sa) we also pray for his Ummah (people).  Therefore, it is not only in obedience to Allah that we pray for Muhammad (sa), it is also a blessing for ourselves to pray for Muhammad (sa).  It is a win win situation.

love for all, hatred for none

  11. We Pray for him(saw) because we are commanded in the Qur'an to pray for him.

The Prophet(saw) himself used to sleep very little during the nights. He used to spend his time in prayer and asking for forgiveness for himself and his nation.

When he was asked why he prays so much since his sins where forgiven and he was promised to have the highest place in Jannah he(saw) replied by saying: Shouldn't I be a Thank-full servant.

In another hadith he(saw) said that by only Allaah's mercy will he enter jannah. So our deeds can not save us unless Allaah accepts them for us. No one is sure. Muhammad(saw) remained a humble and obedient servant all along until he took his last breath.

That is way we pray for him.

Peace and blessings be upon him.

  12. Because we love him so much.

Love Allah and His Beloved Prophet more than anything else (9:24)

Say (O Muhammad!): ‘If you love God, follow me so that God loves you.’ (Al ‘Imran, 3.31)

Btw, we can pray for any Muslim whether alive or not. But we can not pray from any Muslim whether alive or dead.

71:28 "O my Sustainer! Grant Thy forgiveness unto me and unto my parents, and unto everyone who enters my house as a believer, and unto all believing men and believing women [of later times]; and grant Thou that the doers of evil shall increasingly meet with destruction!"'
