  1. There isn't enough information to answer this question.  You have four grandparents, you mention two and don't complete the sentence.  Are they Irish?  What about the other two grandparents?  Your aunt is irrelevant as she and your mother/father may not have the same parents.

the only way both your parents could be from the american side is if they were brother and sister.

Each of your parents gets 50% of each of their parents.  You get 50% of each of your parents.  If both of your parents are "american" only then you are american only.

  2. If you're American, that makes you American.

But from a geneology standpoint, yes, you are of completely Irish heritage if all 4 of your grandparents are Irish.

  3. you are descended from Irish. You are American..but can be called Irish-American.

  4. If you mean you have 2 grandparents born in Ireland and 2 born in the USA, and both of your parents were born in the USA, then you are 1/2 Irish and 1/2 unknown. Your aunt doesn't matter to you for this, unless she brought over a bottle of Jamison's and you two were drinking when you tried to frame your question.

Most Americans (The Cherokee and Iroquois excepted) figure their percentages by going back to the immigrant ancestors. Sometimes you have to go further than your school mates. I'm 7/512ths Huguenot, for instance.

We usually overlook the fact that "English" is a mix of Pict, Celt, Roman mercenary, Viking, Angle, Saxon, Jute and Norman. The French and German people mixed too. Lots of us classify "Huguenot" as an ethnicity, even though it is a religion.

For this purpose - "what fraction are you?"  we ignore birthplaces of the more recent ancestors.

  5. You are not making sense.  First, whatever  your aunt is has NO relation to what you are because you do not come from her.  Second, if one set of your grandparents are Irish and one set is American, how can BOTH of your parents be "from the American side"?  One of your parents MUST come from the Irish grandparents in order for them to even be your grandparents.  IF you are correct that one set of your grandparents is 100% Irish and one set is 100% American, then you HERITAGE is half Irish and half American.  Your NATIONALITY would be that of whatever country you are born and raised in (your citizenship).  If you were born and raised in America, then you are American with Irish heritage.  If you were born and raised in Canada, then you are Canadian with Irish and American heritage.

  6. It sounds like one parent is 100% Irish, the other 100% American.  Therefore, you would be half Irish, half American.

  7. Irish
