I checked my credit score online, and i have a 521, with only 2 strikes, one that was settled, and it says account closed, and another unsettled but already closed from last year with only $743 debt. I want to apply for a new credit card online to rebuild my credit, I couldn't even get capitol one

Do you know of any cards I can get? I dont mind the APR or Annual fee at all, I just have NO money to pay upfront just yet, I am in between jobs so I can afford the payments soon, but I want a card for now just to put a few points back on my score to add it up some, because I am planning on moving down to my own place soon.

I keep hearing about other places like orchard bank, but they all have an upfront fee or you need to give them a $100 deposit, is there any way I can get around this? what other cards are there? I dont care if its a $100-$300 limit, Just ANYTHING to build it up

  1. First Premier Bank.  They offer credit cards to people with really low credit.  I got approved when my score was 537 I think, I'm not sure if you are too low.  Try it.  For me, they charged about $150 of fees to my first month, but I had $50 of available credit.  Most people complain about the fees you get at first, but at least you don't have to pay $200 upfront.

PS:  Don't listen to the guy's response below who says he has the "REAL" answer.  He just gave you a list of secured cards (where you have to make a deposit of 200 or 300 upfront (WHICH YOU DON'T WANT TO DO).

  2. You can use credit repair agency to fix your credit - for example this one - http://creditreport.imess.net - They can clean lots of such bad stuff from your credit report - and do it much faster than yourself, so your credit will go up fast.

  3. Not unless you know someone who will add you to their card.  You get the points for their good credit...  otherwise you will probably have to get a prepaid card

  4. Ok, and now for the REAL answer....

I work as a credit analyst/underwriter for a credit card company, so I would have first hand experience about the situation that you're going through.

And to be totally honest with you, opening up a credit card especially since you're in between jobs in a real no no. Take it from someone that reviews applications everyday for a living. With the way that the credit industry has taken a beating, you're not going to find too many companies that will take a chance on you. R_grayhat mentioned first premier, but they didn't mention is that the fees are charged even before you get the card and activate it. That's just money you're throwing away. At least with secured cards like Orchard Bank, although you have to place a deposit upfront, at some point later on you can get it back providing you can keep the account in good standing.

So my advice to you would be to make sure that you get a job first to insure that you're able to pay any and all your bills. Then I'd go for a secured card, because at least you can use your own money to set the limit, and you can get it back sometime later on.

I posted some links to some secured cards that may work for you.
