Is it 1,000? How does the whole defending of points work in this case?

  1. As the defending champion, he is also defending the 1000 points he earned last year.  Another Roland Garros title this year would give him a net gain of zero, but any result less than the title will cost him sufficiently, at least 300 for losing in the final, and the loss of points increases per round if he loses before that.

  2. He doesn't gain any points if he wins, but would lose some if he doesn't because he won it last year. The only way to gain points is to go farther in a tournament from the previous year.

  3. you should choose between Michael N and Dr. D for the very informative answer. its good you asked because i just knew it now. from the cursory reading of that rule, is it not unfair for the defending champ like rafa to get nothing if he wins and gets deducted if he is beaten at any point in the tournament? maybe i should ask that myself so i would get the 10pts.

  4. The winner receives 1000 ATP Points and a total sum of 1 million euros.

The runner up receives 700 ATP Points and 530 000 euros.

    Happy with my answer?

  5. i beleive its 1500 - 2000

  6. If he wins, he will get the same amount of points as he did last year. If he doesn't win, he will lose points. Given that the ATP runs a revolving 52-week ranking system, the only way to gain points is to do better than you did the same week the previous year.

  7. It is 1000. At the beginning of the French, he will be deducted 1000 points (from winning last year). Then whatever he makes this year will be added back. If he wins, he gets his 1000 points back.

  8. 1000
