Would they have to cancel games or something? What would happen?

  1. No they would be no more screwed than the football or basketball teams were the games would be made up in double headers or neutral site games

  2. I believe Play on the Road otherwise If they had a Weekend Series This Weekend then is NO Big Thing, New Orleans will be Okay to return to and the Saints will be playing Tampa Bay Sunday, So NO They won't be Screwed Now, everything will work out.

  3. New Orleans DOES have a baseball team - The Zephyrs, AAA affiliate of the New York Mets.  The were scheduled to play their last home stand August 29 - September 1.  After playing Friday 8/29, they cancelled their remaining 3 home games.

Since they have been eliminated from post-season contention, the games are not being made up.

In 2005, when Katrina hit, the Zephyrs had just completed their season.  The field was damaged, but they were able to open the 2006 season on time - being the first professional team to play in New Orleans after Katrina.

If they were a major league team, and the fields were unplayable for a long period, an option would be to play in the SuperDome, which can be configured for baseball with a capacity of over 63,000.

  4. There would be a collaboration to play the games in neutral territory... mind you though there's a reason a baseball team isn't in New Orleans.
