Because McCain's 25 years in the Senate allow him to remain a credible candidate, even with a 2 year Governor. Obama hasn't been in the Senate for a full term before annoucing for the Presidency, with over 140 "present votes".

Its true he had been a mere state legislator for 8 years, but only thanks to his connections to Will Ayers, who helped launch him, but has since distanced himself so as to not give his connection away.

Because Obama himself has less experience then McCain's vice president nominee and because she is a VP not the president. At least she has been an executive of mutiple forms of government.
