would he have gotten 94% of the black vote during the primaries?

I'm just curious. If he looked white like Carey does, would people still call him black.Wouldn't they call him white?

Also,I'm not saying that black people voted for him because he's black, but I can't help but think that when a candidate gets 94% during the PRIMARIES,not the general election, his skin color and the fact that he could be the first black president is a factor.

I understand that black people overwhelmingly vote Democrat during the general election.

I'm just curious because Clinton had more of the black vote before Iowa, but after Iowa, suddenly Obama got the vote in state after state consistently. And please don't say that the Clinton campaign was racist. Bill Clinton made a foolish comment, but it wasn't so horrible that suddenly Obama would get 94% of the vote. I don't think they played the race card. I was neutral during the primaries so don't accuse me of being an angry Clinton supporter.

The explanation that was given for Obama's sudden rise among black people was that after Iowa,it was real to them that a Obama had a real shot at winning the nomination and possibly the presidency. I remember all the pundits on tv saying that.

By the way,I'm a liberal and an Obama supporter

  1. I think the black and other populations of the U.S have a real reason to vote this time.

-empowerment,oppression and freedom have their own special energy imo

  2. they would still call him black because his fathers black, so technically hes black, but mixed. And trust me, blacks would still vote for him.

  3. Do all liberal Obama supporters pay as much attention to skin color as you do?  Because if not, you should not be speaking for them.  I'm sure they'll be begging you to shut up now before you do any more damage to them.

  4. people elected george w bush and he isnt stunning looking i thought elections were for american issues and the future

  5. White like Michael Jackson.

  6. Are we talking skin color, gender bender tendencies or actual change in gender?

Skin color wise it's hard to say. It's hard to quantify just why people are voting for him without trying to guess their intentions (Just as liberals at large are shouting that Palin can only be a nominee due to her gender, which is ironic). Obama has a lot of admirable qualifications, but would they have seen the light of day if not for his race?? Hard to say, I'd hope so. It's exciting to have a black person in such a powerful position, but at the same time I'd hate to think it is been spurred on soley because of his skin color.

Gender Bender tendencies would definitely kill the vote. People can accept many differences, but no one really wants their male president to be wearing a dress when he makes his United Nations debut. Well okay, maybe some do...

As for a L*****n president... maybe a few years too early for that, but I could see it happening. It's hard to predict trends like that.
