To answer your question, to replace a VP between elections, the President must nominate someone and he/she must be confirmed by Congress.  This is the procedure that was used to put Gerry Ford in the VP slot during Nixon's term.

Even with that, you are really reaching with your scenario.  At any rate I have more confidence in Sarah than Obama or Biden.  As a Governor, Sarah proved she can and will make decisions.  She's a leader.

The majority of the dr's have stated they see no reason why McCain should not be able to finish his term, we should be worried more about Obama, he is a 47 year old man that submitted a ONE page medical report...even if he went in yearly like we all should he would have more than a ONE page medical report...McCain submitted over 1100 pages then throw in that Obama has drugs in his past, which alter the brain, he is also a smoker and cancer runs in his family. Why is Obama hiding his medical report, can you answer that?

The Republicans are back-peddling now that McCain has made his ultimate mistake, in picking a woman for his running mate. He has offered the #2 position of power to an inexperienced female (the country isn't ready for that), and now has to say anything he can to gain the Presidency. In answer to your question...no, Hillary Clinton can't be 'made'  President, sorry. All I know is this, the Vice Presidential debates are going to be something else. Biden is going to chew-up Ms. Palin, and spit her out. There has been so many things gone wrong with this Nation since the Republicans have taken power, now they dare to blame the Dems?
